Over 70 Years Experience
Bonnett’s Electrical has a rich history spanning back to 1946 when after World War II, Percy Bonnett saw a big demand for electrical infrastructure here after being relocated to Shepparton from Melbourne as assistant manager of the then SEC. He started up Bonnett’s Electrical and it quickly expanded with an abundance of electrical work in the area. Rural reticulation systems had been neglected during the war, industry was expanding and orchardists were investing in new technology. Percy was always well regarded and admired by staff and customers alike and always gave a lot of himself, something that was passed on to his staff.
When Percy passed away in 1980 from a heart attack, there was definitely a big gap to fill. However, thanks to Percy leaving the business in the control of longtime friend and fishing partner Jock Stewart, along with manager Cam Hill for the next five years, the business thrived. Then in 1985 16 staff members got together with the assistance of Jock, Cam and Albert Kellock and bought the business that is now known as Bonnett’s Staff Electrical Contractors, a move that proved to be a long term and successful adventure.
